BlackRock Expands Tokenized Fund Strategy with New SEC Filings
BlackRock is doubling down on blockchain-based financial products with two new tokenized money market fund filings. The asset management giant seeks to bridge traditional treasury yields with crypto-native investors through digital shares of an existing fund and a new vehicle tailored for blockchain markets.
The May 8 SEC submissions signal accelerating institutional adoption of tokenized real-world assets (RWA). Nate Geraci of Novadius Wealth predicts this marks the beginning of a wave: "You'll be seeing much more of this from top asset managers."
BlackRock's strategy specifically targets investors holding digital wallets and stablecoins rather than conventional brokerage accounts. The move positions the firm as a key infrastructure provider in the RWA sector while circumventing yield limitations of existing crypto products.
